“Every time I would take my children to hospital, they would tell
us to eat vegetables,” Robert Byayirisa says. Robert joined the
Urban Farming Project in 2019. Not only does his family of 12 now
have plenty of vegetables to eat, but so do the students at the
local school. Robert earns a living growing sukuma wiki (pictured)
and egg plants for the St. Clever Primary School lunch program.
“I’m happy I joined the Urban Farming Project and want to thank
the trainers for training me and checking on me. I also want to
thank the donors for giving me the things I used to start my
garden. I plan to continue growing vegetables.”
The Urban Farming Project helps low-income families in Kampala,
